Hello, I'm Nicola

I listen to people in a way that helps them feel better

I am a Senior Accredited Counsellor and Accredited Supervisor who lives and works in Musselburgh.

When choosing a counsellor, it can be hard to know who is the right one for you. I hope I can answer some of the questions you may have to help you in your decision to find a counsellor.

About Me

I am a highly experienced Person-Centred Counsellor and Supervisor.  I live and work in East Lothian and have done so for most of my life. I have always found counselling to be useful in my own life and in 2003 I made the decision to train as counsellor. I trained with Persona Counselling on their BACP Accredited Counselling Diploma and qualified in 2005.

I have been supporting people in my local community to manage their mental health for the last twenty years.

I also have a great deal of experience setting up, developing and running counselling services. To date, I have set up three and they are all a great asset to my local community. I also work in collaboration with local universities to support their trainee counsellors. I inspire counsellors to set up their own counselling services too. You can find out more about how I do this here

Since 2008 I have built up my own private practice from home which is busy and thriving. I have a mixture of private clients, supervisees and I am an affiliate for a variety of EAP providers.

I am a strong, caring, passionate, empathic, sensitive, and determined woman. I enjoy life but sometimes it overwhelms me.  Life can be really hard at times and yet through those difficult times, a new strength can emerge from within us. It can be hard to believe this when we are going through a tough time though.

I enjoy connecting with people, even when they feel they have nothing to offer. It is a privilege to be alongside people as they grow and change. Being part of this process with someone never gets tiring. I want to learn about you. I want to get to know you and how you experience the world. I want to learn and understand about our differences and appreciate our shared experiences.

I love that we live in such a beautiful and diverse world.

I feel very lucky that I get to live and work in East Lothian. It is close to Edinburgh City Centre but also close to the countryside and some beautiful coastlines. Going for walks in the country or along the beach makes me feel less stressed. I always try to get outside most days.  I am married with two grown up daughters and a dog.
