I have listed below some of the questions that I frequently get asked. I hope that my
answers help you with your decision in approaching me for counselling. Should you have
any questions that I have not listed, or if you want to chat through some of my answers,
please do not hesitate to get in touch.
HOW LONG WILL I NEED COUNSELLING FOR?
That depends on you. Some people only attend for a short time i.e. 6-8 weeks, whilst
others prefer longer. You, the client will be in control of how long you attend for.
WHERE WILL I BE SEEN?
I see clients from my own home in Musselburgh. This is easily accessible by car, train
or bus. Parking is free and easily available outside my house. There is a direct bus
route to and from Edinburgh or East Lothian very close to my house. A train station
is within walking distance from my house.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
A fee of £40 is paid for a one hour counselling session.
This fee is paid at the end of each session.
WHEN CAN I BE SEEN?
I offer appointments during the day and in the evening so hopefully we can find
a time that is convenient for you
WILL I NEED TO WAIT TO BE SEEN?
I will try and see you as I can and I aim to offer a first appointment within a
week of you contacting me.
WHAT CAN COUNSELLING HELP WITH?
Loss of meaning in your life
Low self esteem
Issues related to sex
Problems at home/work
WHAT ABOUT CONFIDENTIALITY?
Everything you bring to counselling will be confidential between us. I am however
required to attend a supervisor once a month. I speak to my supervisor about the
work that I do with clients. It is my supervisor's job to ensure that I am working
properly and ethically and ultimately has your best interests at heart. My supervisor
is bound by strict confidentiality also. I work and adhere to the NCS code of Ethics.
