About Me

I live and work in East Lothian and have done so for most of my life. I love East Lothian

as it is close to Edinburgh City Centre but also close to the countryside too. I love going

for walks in the country or along the beach but I also love the buzz of city life.

In Musselburgh I have the best of both worlds. I am married with two grown up daughters.

I love dancing, swimming, walking, jogging, singing, reading and more recently crocheting!

In 2003 I embarked on a two year counselling training programme with Persona

Counselling - this course is now accredited by the University of Stirling. At the

end of my training I gained a Diploma in Person Centred Counselling. I will explain

more about this on the next page.

In 2004 I set up the counselling service at CHANGES Community Health Project, Musselburgh.

Initially I ran this service by myself, however in 2008 I recruited a student to work

alongside me as the counselling service was growing at great speed.

From 2008 until my departure from CHANGES in 2011 I mentored and supported a high

number of students on placement as they trained to become counsellors. Many of them

are now qualified and working as counsellors today.

The counselling service I set up at CHANGES is well established and highly respected in

the community of East Lothian and also amongst the Universities and Colleges as a

placement opportunity for trainee counsellors.

More recently I set up and developed a counselling service within Dad's Work, Musselburgh.

I recruited and mentored a counsellor who is currently running this service.

I am a highly experienced group worker and some of the groups I have facilitated are:-

Understanding Anxiety

Self Esteem

First Steps to Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing

Developing Positive Thinking

Understanding Anger

Women's Support Group

I have an HNC in counselling which covers the Psychodynamic, Gestalt, CBT

and Humanistic Approaches to counselling. I also have a TA101 certificate.
